WHO CAN APPLY TO BECOME AN INSTRUCTOR?
Instructors are trained to introduce players to the game using progressive tennis in group lessons at tennis clubs and community courts. Their goal is to foster player growth and retention while promoting tennis as a sport for life in a safe and positive enviroment.

Here's how to become a certified coach with the TPA.
Earning Your Status
Outlined below are the guidelines for completing the Instructor course and becoming an active, certified coach.
01. Sport Safety Compliance
- Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders module
- Background check
- Declaration of Good Character
- Signed Code of Conduct
02. Complete Online Modules
- Instructor modules (Quality Standards for Kids Tennis)
- Make Ethical Decisions training and evaluation
- Two half-day webinars (3 hours each)
03. Complete In-Person Training and Evaluations
- Four days, 32 hours total
04. Receive Your Certificate
- Maintain Sport Safety Compliance
- Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders every 3 years
- Background Check every year
- Declaration of Character every year
- Code of conduct every year
- Maintain certification
- Ongoing professional development
