The ITF World Tennis Number algorithm uses match results provided by national tennis federations to calculate ratings for players. That's why Tennis Canada has established programs to provide an avenue for coaches and club administrators to submit match results to this platform, and thus introduce WTN to their players and members.
The WTN Club Matchplay program and WTN Challenge Matches are two ways for players to earn and improve their rating. These programs are operated through the Flex Ladders section on the national-provincial matchplay platform, allowing clubs, league organizers, and players to input their matchplay results online in order to earn and build a WTN.
This program supports the delivery of leagues and other matchplay programs at tennis clubs across Canada. While providing a new benefit to club members, it allows clubs to submit club league or matchplay results to the national-provincial matchplay platform and have the results count toward their members’ WTNs. The platform also helps clubs organize matchplay and simplify administration, and WTN can be used to group members for level-based play.
These are a chance for junior players participating in high performance programs and training under Coach 2s (or higher) in Canada to play more quality competitive matches and track their progress through the contribution of match results to their WTN.
Community Tennis Leagues (CTL) are for players looking to connect and organize friendly matches with similarly skilled players in their community. CTL match results are recorded on the national-provincial matchplay platform, allowing players to track their matches, scores, and progress while being able to build their WTN and win prizes along the way.
The watchlist allows coaches to track the progress of multiple players' WTN. This resource is being offered exclusively to TPA active certified coaches for FREE!
