It’s obvious that Leylah Annie Fernandez and Taylor Townsend gave a great on-court performance Friday to reach their first Grand Slam final at Roland-Garros, but the talented duo also aced their post-match press conference in more ways than one.

Not only were they engaging and insightful, but they also rocked some shades while taking questions from the media in Paris. A boss move before they play for the title on Sunday.
Townsend explained that they have been building towards this opportunity all season and she’s happy they were able to avenge their loss to Americans Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula in the Miami Open final.
“I’m just honestly so proud of how were able to play and perform. I told Leylah after the match, this is what we’ve been building towards over the last couple of months and from where we started as a team and just figuring each other out to now, understanding each other so well, and being able to play such great, consistent tennis against no. 1 seeds,” Townsend said.
As for Fernandez, she attributes the quick success of their partnership to their chemistry, both on and off the court.
“I think that’s the most important thing out there to have a good chemistry off court. You know, Taylor and I we’ve known each other for a couple of months, I don’t think we talked before partnering, but then our relationship started to grow more and more off court, we’re very comfortable with each other and we’re not afraid to tell each other the truth,” Fernandez explained.
The women’s doubles final is set for Sunday at 5:30 a.m. ET. You can watch the match on TSN and RDS.
