The draw for the 2025 Davis Cup World Group I took place today at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) offices in London, Great Britain, and Team Canada presented by IGA is slated to face Israel on September 12-13, or September 13-14, 2025, at a to-be-determined location in Canada.
In February, Team Canada hosted Hungary at IGA Stadium in Montreal, Quebec, in a Davis Cup Qualifiers 1st Round tie. Despite overcoming a 0-2 deficit and forcing a fifth match, the Canadian team was unable to secure the decisive rubber against the Hungarians, resulting in them having to contest a World Group I tie. Also part of this group are the 12 other nations that lost in the Qualifiers 1st Round along with the 13 winning nations from the 2025 World Group I Play-offs.

Team Canada, ranked No. 6 in the world and top seed in the World Group I draw, will be facing No. 30 Israel for the second time in Davis Cup competition. Their previous meeting took place in 2011, when Vasek Pospisil emerged as the hero, winning his three matches to help Canada return to the World Group for the first time since 2004. The upcoming tie in September will be a best-of-five series, with two singles matches scheduled for day one, followed by doubles and the two reverse singles matches on day two.
The winner of the tie between Canada and Israel will advance to the 2026 Qualifiers 1st Round, with a chance to compete for the 2026 Davis Cup title. The losing nation will enter the 2026 World Group I Play-offs and will not be able to reach the final stage of the Davis Cup competition until 2027.
