Bianca Andreescu is finally back at doing what she does best: stressing us out every match, but winning gloriously. Oh and also bringing all of her great personality on court too!
Let’s take a look at the best Andreescu moments this week in Miami. First, this absolute work of art of a passing shot. Her reaction in the end is what I live for in tennis:
Then, here’s Bianca showing great respect for her opponent after a gruelling, epic match.
Last, but certainly not least, just look at her dog. I didn’t know I needed this in my life 🐶
#NextGen showdown
In the men’s draw, where no member of the Big 3 is playing, newcomers are taking their opportunity to win the important title in Miami. Jannik Sinner, a 19-year-old sensation from Italy, is the fourth youngest player to reach the semi-finals at the prestigious event.
But he had to overcome this level of crazy from Alexandr Bublik, another youngster, to reach that stage 💥:
In spite of the loss, Bublik also recognized how amazing the Italian is at such a young age:
On other news, Sinner is sponsored by a Parmesan 🧀 brand, Parmigiano Reggiano. And we absolutely love it.
Down memory lane
Miami has always been the world stage for many special moments in tennis, including some of the most epic rivalries:
Many players achieved great things there, including Agassi’s 700th match win, which obviously had to be in a dramatic four-set final over a certain Swiss:
Yes, it was April Fools also 🤷
And of course, April Fools was a thing again this year, and confused a lot of people for the millionth time. Here’s the best (or worst?) of it:
Jose Raonic, who is part of the Authority Thermal Peace (ATP) gives us some very wrong answers, along with Bob Shapovalov:
Wimbledon decided to completely break from tradition, and will make the courts purple. Maybe the new dress code will be orange?
And the US Open will add even more technology to their tournament, with drones that will bring players their towels. Next step: Star Wars droids replace chair umpires!
I would just like to finish with these two particular ways of signing the camera after a match win. Players are getting quite creative… or not really.
