Progressive tennis is a collection of adaptations that provide tools and environments to make tennis more accessible, enjoyable and easier to play.
Modified balls, racquets, nets and court sizes allow skills to be developed faster and more effectively, regardless of age or ability.
Progressive tennis was initially designed to scale the game down for kids 10 & under, so the tactics and techniques of the game were experienced in ways appropriate for their size and skill level. Adapting the game to the child rather than squeezing the child into the adult version of the game is essential for developing a solid long-term foundation for future success.
Over time, the tools and adaptations were discovered to be very beneficial for any age and ability. Not only kids but teens, adults, players with disabilities and seniors can all experience the benefits of progressive tennis.
Progressive tennis is not only excellent for introducing the game to players but can be used as learning tools for any level. The modifications can be used for advanced players to develop specific skills, as a tool for recovering from injury, for modified seniors tennis, and various other beneficial uses. For example, Red foam-ball Tennis is used successfully for advanced adults to make the game fun and exciting. Progressive tennis can encourage players to stay engaged in tennis for life.
Although all the modifications can be used for any age and ability, the Progressive Tennis tools and environments can be grouped in a package of helpful stages for programs and events.
