Mohamed Ismath completed his education in Sri Lanka, becoming an accountant and later working in the country’s financial and banking industry. He then immigrated to Winnipeg.
Mohamed worked as a senior executive in the Canadian automotive industry for thirty years and is now retired. Using his skills as a senior executive, he helped enhance the development of tennis in Manitoba at both the recreational and high performance levels for over 30 years. He currently serves on the Tennis Manitoba Board of Directors as Past President and serves as Past Chair of the Council of Provinces for Tennis Canada.
His passion for tennis stems from his own love for the game. He started playing tennis at a young age and was able to see his kids play Division I college tennis.
Mohamed is also passionate about celebrating diversity and promoting cultural understanding. He has volunteered for Folklorama since 1998, serving on the Board of Directors since 2007, including two terms as President. Mohamed has also served as either Director or Chair of the Board for several not-for-profit organizations in their pursuit of more efficient program delivery and good governance.
